- Description
- Mountain environments are especially sensitive to climate change. In particular, changes in winter precipitation, summer radiation and summer air temperatures alter the speed and extent to which snow lines migrate up glaciers during the summer. These changes affect the hydrology of glaciers in the short term and the geometry of glaciers in the longer term. Both of these changes alter the magnitude and seasonal pattern of runoff in mountain streams and have important water resource implications.
